Joshan Esfandiari Martin lives in Berlin, but the half British, half Iranian director was born in Brighton, on the south coast of the UK. His passion for the art of filmmaking was fuelled by spending countless afternoons in the cinema where his father worked. With a background in theatre and literary fiction, Joshan writes and directs innovative, striking and thoughtful films that reflect a diverse career. His work has screened at dozens of festivals worldwide, including multiple awards for his dance short ‘Next’.
